Matthew C. (“Matt”) Lucas was born and raised in Tampa, Florida and lives there now with his wife and their two sons. He did his undergraduate work at Florida State University and went to law school at the University of Florida. By day, he’s an appellate judge in the state court system, but he’s been writing fantasy fiction for longer than he’s been writing legal briefs.
His first novel, The Mountain, is a dark, epic fantasy that was ten years in the making and should debut in late 2020 or early 2021. He’s thrilled to be teaming up with Ellysian Press to bring Yonder & Far, an historical fantasy, into the world. Matt’s shorter works have appeared in Bards & Sages Quarterly, The Society of Misfit Stories, Collective Realms, and Swords & Sorcery Magazine.
